This thesis reexamines traditional notions of collective or rational space (exterior) and its interface with private space (interior). the vehicle for the inquire is a small hotel (non-place) in the middle of downtown Los Angeles. the strategies put forward by this thesis involve the development of new and perhaps unanticipated spaces and organizations as an inherent property of the hybrid: a remixing of distinct, stratified domains inside, outside, program and context.
